Pokemon Sun and Moon have been confirmed, but we’re still unsure what exactly they are

Yesterday’s leak proved to be accurate. Nintendo is indeed releasing new Pokemon games. But we now know that they are for the 3DS and will release this holiday season. They will also include new language options for both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Unfortunately, that’s about it.

There were no new details on top of that, which is disappointing. You would think for a franchise as massive in its popularity and as pivotal to Nintendo’s success that they would have at least shared some screen shots. Maybe even some concept art? No, it wasn’t to be.

Frankly, we shouldn’t be surprised. Promotion has never been Nintendo’s strong suit, at least in terms of what promotion means in the modern era of leaks and social media. Nintendo continues to play its cards close to the chest for better or worse. Though right now, it definitely feels like worse.

We can however take solace in the fact that the game really isn’t that far off, being due sometime this holiday season. If that release window holds up, I’m sure we can expect to see and hear more details in the very near future.
